The UN Special Rapporteur on Contemporary forms of Slavery, Tomoya Obokata, will present his thematic report on the worst forms of child labour (A/HRC/60/28) during the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council on 12 September 2025.
The side event has the objective of bringing greater attention to the findings of the report, notably that despite the existence of international legal frameworks, growing awareness and a decline in prevalence rates, millions of children continue to be subjected to hazardous work, abuse and exploitation across all geographic regions. By showcasing global and national perspectives of diverse stakeholders, the event will focus on the impact on child victims and survivors, identifying encouraging practices and avenues to combat child labour while also addressing the needs of victims and survivors.
