Webinar Series: Trafficking in Persons and Organized Crime
Between July and September this year, the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT) will organize webinars to enhance understanding of the interconnections between trafficking in persons and other serious organized crimes, including corruption, terrorism and cyber-enabled crime. Upcoming webinars will be held as follows:
24 July: Human Trafficking, Terrorism and Firearms Trafficking, 3pm CEST
25 September: Human Trafficking, Cyber and Cyber-enabled Crime, 3pm CEST
The webinars will feature diverse expert panellists drawn from the ICAT membership and other stakeholders.

Join the Alliance 8.7 Action Group on Agriculture! Call for Expressions of Interest
The Agriculture Action Group (AGA), established during the 19th meeting of the Alliance's Global Coordinating Group, is inviting Alliance 8.7 partners to express their interest in joining collective efforts to eliminate child labour in agriculture. The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) provides the secretariat for this Action Group, in close coordination with the members of the International Partnership for Cooperation on Child Labour in Agriculture (IPCCLA). The group aims to address the root causes of child labour in crop production, livestock, fishing, aquaculture, and forestry, with a focus on family farming and integrated solutions.
The AGA’s framework focuses on:

Mapping of Actions: Alliance 8.7 Action Group on Supply Chains
The Alliance's Action Group on Supply Chains is conducting a mapping of members' research, policy and advocacy support, capacity building and tools, and actions to accelerate progress towards ending child labour, forced labour, and human trafficking in supply chains, in line with the Action Group's workplan.
The objective of this mapping exercise is to provide an overview of efforts, identify opportunities for synergy and collaboration, and showcase good results and lessons learned.

4th Appraisal of the UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in Persons
📢Call for written submissions
The UN Global Plan of Action to Combat Trafficking in persons was adopted in 2010. In 2025, the General Assembly will appraise the progress made to date in implementing the Global Plan of Action and reflect on existing gaps and challenges in the effort to combat trafficking in persons. To promote inclusive, active, and substantive engagement in the fourth appraisal, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) invites civil society organizations, academia, and the private sector to submit written contributions, latest by 31 October 2025. All contributions will be made publicly available on the UNODC website.

Call to Action: Global Forum for Human Trafficking Survivors
In Vienna, the first-ever Global Forum for Human Trafficking Survivors, convened by UNODC, adopted a Call to Action to enhance protection responses for victims of trafficking. The Forum, themed Voices of Resilience, brought together survivor leaders, government representatives, service providers and civil society organizations to advance a survivor-centred approach, strengthening global efforts to combat human trafficking.

When communities take the lead in Uganda: Kalungu District's example in fighting child labour
A world free from child labour might seem an ambitious dream, but in Kalungu District, Uganda, that dream is steadily becoming a tangible reality. By strengthening local systems and fostering deep community involvement, this region is demonstrating that significant strides can be made in the ongoing battle against child labour. This proactive engagement was a pivotal part of Uganda's formal celebrations for the World Day Against Child Labour.
Kalungu District, which registered a concerning 375 cases of children in child labour in two of its sub-counties (Lwabenge and Kyamulibwa) between July and November 2024, witnessed a dramatic reduction to just 74 new cases identified between December 2024 and May 2025.

Recap: World Day Against Child Labour 2025
Around 12 June, the World Day Against Child Labour was marked with a high level of activities in various countries.
The new Global Estimates on Child Labour (ILO and UNICEF) were released at the high-level event during the 113th session of the International Labour Conference. ILO constituents and partners discussed trends in child labour, and the steps needed to accelerate progress,

Child Labour: Global Estimates 2024, Trends and the Road Forward
Nearly 138 million children were engaged in child labour in 2024, including around 54 million in hazardous work likely to jeopardize their health, safety, or development, according to new estimates released by the ILO and UNICEF. The latest data show a total reduction of over 22 million children since 2020, reversing an alarming spike between 2016 and 2020. It covers engaging survivors as partners in counter-trafficking work, applying trauma-informed and survivor-centred approaches, gaining informed consent, equitable remuneration, non-punishment, and ensuring safety and protection.
