The Terms of Reference formulate the mission statement and the key objectives of the Alliance, briefly describe its organizational structure and means of action, the role of partners and pathfinder countries and establishes the composition and key functions of the Global Coordinating Group and the Secretariat. The Pathfinder Countries Guidance Note provides more detailed information on the roles, responsibilities and opportunities for Pathfinder Countries.
HOW IS ALLIANCE 8.7 ORGANIZED?
While many countries and organizations are taking active steps to achieve Target 8.7, there is an urgent need for coordinated global action. The Alliance brings together actors at all levels to collaborate, strategize, share knowledge and ultimately accelerate progress so we can deliver on this commitment by 2030. The strength of the Alliance lies in the diversity of its partners and their commitment to reaching across borders and meeting the challenges together.
Partners
Partnership is open to countries, international and regional organizations, workers’ organizations, employer and business membership organizations, civil society organizations, academic institutions and other relevant stakeholders and networks.

Secretariat
The Secretariat facilitates the day-to-day operations of the Alliance. This includes enabling regular and transparent communication amongst Alliance partners, supporting the work of Action Groups, and providing assistance to the Global Coordinating Group. The International Labour Organization (ILO) currently serves as Secretariat for Alliance 8.7.
Knowledge Platform
Alliance 8.7 and its partners are currently working on a number of knowledge resources that will be made available in the near future.
The United Nations University Centre for Policy Research have also developed a knowledge platform as a contribution to Alliance 8.7.
ACCESS THE KNOWLEDGE PLATFORMHOW WAS ALLIANCE 8.7 FORMED?
Alliance 8.7 was launched following on a series of regional consultations. The current membership and structure of the partnership is based on the outputs from these consultations. The priorities, gaps and synergies identified during the panel discussions and working groups were the basis of the various Action Groups.
