Mexico Strategic Workshop Report

The Government of Mexico held their first Pathfinder Country Strategic Planning Workshop on 24-25 September, 2019 in Ciudad de México.

The workshop had a high level of participation from more than 100 representatives of government institutions, employers' and workers' organizations, civil society and UN agencies. The participants reflected on national and international efforts to prevent and eradicate child labour, forced labour and human trafficking in Mexico.

Four priority issues were identified: i) Knowledge generation; ii) Migration; iii) Supply Chains; and iv) Prevention, protection, complaint and persecution strategies; as well as the need for a multi-stakeholder approach to reviewing already existing strategies, mechanisms in Mexico. Innovative proposals to overcome existing country-specific challenges were made.
