Joining forces globally to end child labour, forced labour and human trafficking
50 million people globally are victims of modern slavery, of which 25 million are subjected to forced labour
138 million children are engaged in child labour
66,627 victims of human trafficking have been identified globally
The figures speak for themselves. Investment in action to end child labour, forced labour, modern slavery and human trafficking is needed now more than ever.
Alliance 8.7 catalyses transformative change by shaping the global policy agenda and empowering Pathfinder Countries to strengthen institutional capacities to address SDG Target 8.7 issues, thereby laying the foundation for sustainable, locally driven progress.
At the heart of the Alliance is a whole-of-government and multi-stakeholder approach, grounded in tripartism, with a focus on centering on the voices and lived experiences of survivors.
To support this agenda, the Alliance created the Multi-Partner Fund “Joining forces globally to end forced labour, modern slavery, human trafficking, and child labour”
Contributions to the Fund will help support the roll out of the Alliance 8.7’s strategy and mobilize collective action at global, regional and national levels.
The Fund is a flexible mechanism open to contributions of all sizes and from all types of partners, including governments, companies, foundations, civil society organizations and other stakeholders committed to accelerating progress on SDG Target 8.7.
Entities interested in supporting the Fund are invited to contact the Alliance 8.7 Secretariat focal point at the International Labour Organization: Jane Colombini, colombini@ilo.org.
